What are the spring fruits and vegetables?
The spring season, when all nature sprouts and regenerates, comes offering a wide variety of fruits and even more vegetables. This change, compared to previous months, is readily apparent in the popular markets - especially the organic ones - where fruit and vegetable cultivation is usually chosen, without violating the natural process.
March
Fruits: Citrus fruits continue to dominate the market. We'll also have this month (and next) month: Oranges, Lemons, Tangerines and Apples
Vegetables: We still find green, particularly nutritious vegetables: broccoli, beetroot, leeks, radishes, rape, brussels sprouts, cabbage, celery, chives, spinach, finock, avocado, cauliflower, cauliflower, cauliflower, lettuce parsley.
April
Fruits: We continue to find our favorite oranges, lemons, tangerines and apples less frequently, which need better maintenance. It will be one of the last we eat for this year.
Vegetables: Zucchini, asparagus and beans make their way in, while we continue to find rape (last), artichokes, avocado, dill, peas, carrot, cauliflower, onions, cabbage, brussels sprouts, brussels sprouts, brussels sprouts beetroot, leek, radishes, chickpeas and spinach.
May
Fruits: A breath of fresh summer fruit, May brings us summer oranges (Valencia), as well as strawberries, cherries, apricots, lemongrass and early melons.
Vegetables: What's new in this category? Sprouts, green beans, early cucumbers, early aubergines, dill, peas, carrots, fennel, lettuce, peppers, radishes, celery, as well as chives, spinach, asparagus, broccoli (last), avocado, dill, cabbage, dill and parsley, as we had in previous months.
The weather, as well as the means used to maintain proper conditions in terms of production and maintenance, are likely to bring many of our vegetables and fruits to our plate faster. However it is good and perhaps safer to choose one that is closest to its time.
