When the medium is the Art

When the medium is the Art

Psychology through art

As long as we are back and returning to the human history, we will be impressed by the extent to which art is interwoven with human life.

Art is a dialect of great value. It is capable of conveying even the inexplicable many times, to transmit generously vibrations and dramas related to human life. It also acts as a means of expression for the artist and the public.

The very definition of art, as well as its dynamics in terms of its symbolism, semiology, acceptance and understanding by the public, is a huge chapter, with often conflicting interpretations and theories. But here we will choose to make a reference to the role played by art and expression in the author's psychology.

By nature, any human being has the need to communicate and express its feelings. Through a work, the creator can express a multitude of emotions, thoughts, concerns or suggestions. It helps the person find solutions, give life to dead energy, express his feelings and individual experiences in the outside world. [1]

What does ' creativity ' mean?

According to the Ministry of Education's handbook on art, the word creation means:

Conduction or transport of various sub-elements in a unit and totality functional. Creation is therefore a functional synthesis or a reconstruction of individual elements. [2]

A composition is a unity of different things that interact with each other. It is a dynamic or dialectical synthesis, so creation is a dynamic and dialectical synthesis.

Creation, then, becomes the vehicle for an individual to externalize his or her feelings and intensity. They are free, without inhibitions, and create their own world. It secures a distance from the problem to understand it and to deal with it.

Psychiatric treatments support their work in creation, expression, art. These paths seek to publicize mental suffering, communication with the person's world, and eventually the healing of mental trauma.

But the science of psychology has also used various forms of art to examine and analyze a person’s psychosis

Science is based on the principle that all kinds of creative or artistic expression are a way of expressing or perceiving aspects of the individual's inner world.

Theater, dance and music were the main ingredients for the development of psychodrama as a form of psychotherapy by Jacob Moreno. It’s a method of investigating the psyche of the individual, where the participants are invited to dramatize Present, of past and even future events of life s. [3]

The first time that painting was used as a diagnostic instrument was by Hermann Rorschach. He combined the abstract illustration (ink blots on a folded tab) and studied the personality of the person who saw the image and interpreted it at will.

Psychologists Henry A. Murray and Christiana D. Morgan created the thematic perception test (TAT TEST) composed of nineteen images in tabs. The individuals are encouraged by the therapist to create stories according to the tab they see.

Over the years, therefore psychology and art are becoming closer ties, not only because many psychodiagnostic tests using various art forms, but also because the preoccupation with art as such has a therapeutic effect on the psyche of the individual.
