Homeopathy through the 'eyes' of Ayurveda

Homeopathy through the 'eyes' of Ayurveda

Ayurveda is a scientific medical system whose roots are lost to ancient India. It is a great contribution from the wise men of that time, as it is not a simple system of medicine in the conventional sense. Ayurveda teaches people how to maintain and protect their health.

It treats people as a whole, as the combination of body, mind and soul. For this reason, it is characterized as a holistic and integrated system of medicine, which has many common points with ancient Greek Ippokratio Medicine.

Approaching Ayurveda etymologically

The word 'Ayu', the first part of the word, means all aspects of life, from birth to death, means health and life. The word 'Veda' means knowledge, learning, science. Hence its translation is often referred to as "Science of Life".

Ayurveda relies on the logic of maintaining a way of life, nutrition, medicine and behavior that can be beneficial to life while highlighting all that can be harmful. It is believed to be compatible with both Western medicine and holistic health systems, such as homeopathy.

Homeopathy & Ayurveda

It is a complete scientific system of holistic healing, whose father is believed to be Hippocrates. It is estimated that classical Homeopathy has its roots in ancient Greece, but it surely blooms and grows in India. Indeed, in India there are most homeopathic hospitals in the world, and of course it is no accident that this happens in the country where Ayurveda was born.

According to Hippocrates, four physical elements are related to four body fluids. The bile with the earth, the black bile with the air, the phlegm with the water and the blood with the fire. Physical and mental health, therefore, tells us Hippocrates, is related to the balance of these four elements.

In the course of time it has been estimated that another element contributes to this equilibrium and is the ether, which is the intermediate between the spirit and the matter. In addition, the temperament was added to the map of the elements, where black bile is associated with the melancholy temperament, bile with choleric and phlegmatic with the phlegmatic. This correlation is indeed the basis for the explanation of the diseases.

Accordingly, in Ayurveda there are three basic qualities - Gounes in the Sanskrit language.

Satva - the principle of light, intelligence and harmony.

Rantza - the principle of energy and emotions.

Tamas - the beginning of darkness, sluggishness and resistance.

Of these three qualities (guns), the five elements are the fire, the earth, the water, the ether, and from them the three "doshas" are born in Ayurveda:

Vata - air, ether

Pitta - fire

Cafa - water, earth.

What is the relationship between them

What do we see then? That there is a common ground between Ayurveda and Homeopathy, which is found in the identification of the data, but also in the constant effort of balancing them.

The purpose of both systems is to free man from the illnesses as well as the spiritual balance to achieve the purpose of each person's life.

The principles that unite Homeopathy and Ayurveda could be explained in the following:

  • Treatment of diseases
  • Disease Prevention
  • Improving life and vital force
  • Developing consciousness

Achieving these goals, combining the knowledge and techniques of Ayurveda and Homeopathy, leads our lives to fullness and well-being. It helps to fulfill our spiritual development or, in other words, to become better people.
