Most people know about bath therapy, that is, bathing in therapeutic baths. One less well-known therapeutic method is psychotherapy, which - in a country such as Greece, which has a wealth of healing resources - has not been utilized as it should.
By the term herbal medicine, we mean the amount of "mineral" water for therapeutic purposes, mainly for diseases of the digestive and urinary tract.

It should be clarified that the potable water treatment is performed at the point where the spring water flows. This ensures that the water will have specific quality characteristics, while its ingestion is combined with the serenity and energy that the landscape exudes.
Water is a source of life and a necessary condition for its preservation. It is well known that humans can live even weeks without eating, but without water they will survive for only a few days.
By itself, drinking natural water provides hydration and detoxification. Mineral water contains minerals and trace elements that have a positive effect on the body and multiply its beneficial effect.
The healing properties of mineral waters have been known since ancient times. In the healing springs the Nymphs offered health and well-being. In ancient Greece, the earliest records of water power existed in the Homeric epics. The "father" of medical Hippocrates was the first to record the diseases cured by the healing sources.
The earliest evidence of therapeutic use of water is found in India. Mojenzo-daro, the largest ancient city of the Indus Valley, in 2,600 BC. had a public hydrotherapy center. "In the waters are all the medicines," writes one of the recordings found in the Vedas, these ancient Sanskrit texts.
How mineral water helps
The waters of the thermal springs are gushing from the bottom of the earth, which results in their enrichment with various minerals (sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, radio, iron, etc.) and gases (carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, nitrogen, etc.).
The "mineral" waters are absorbed by the mucosa in the upper part of the small intestine and end up in the blood, which transports them throughout the body.
In addition, carbon roots increase the peristalsis of the intestine, helping to regulate its function. For example, in irritable bowel syndrome, calcium sulfate waters restore equilibrium.
How much thermal water regulates digestive function. Carboniferous roots contained in many thermal waters stimulate gastric function and increase secretory function.
In general, thermal waters increase the secretion of all hormones related to the digestive system.
Specifically, they cause an increase in gastrin (gastric secretion activator), secretin (pancreatic bicarbonate activator), cholecystokinin (gall bladder activator) and enteroglycogen (activator).
A major feature of drinking hot water is its diuretic action. This property makes it beneficial for the urinary and gastrointestinal tract, as it dissolves kidney stones and bile. In fact, healing water smoothes the urinary stones, which have spikes and usually thicken the urinary mucosa.
A study by the University of Parma has shown that herbal therapy has benefited not only the treatment of kidney stones, but also their prevention.
Mineral water drinking therapy can also be applied to rheumatic diseases, although more research is needed to substantiate it.
Another property of healing waters is that they can compensate for the organism's deficiencies in minerals, or vice versa, to aid in the excretion of an excess salt in the body. For example, sodium intake removes potassium and calcium intake removes calcium.

What’s the process of the therapy?
Drinking can only be done in specific thermal centers where water meets specific criteria. That is, the water of all spas is not potable. They may also be dangerous in some cases due to the high content of radioactive elements. Prior to mineral therapy, a doctor should be examined by a hydrotherapist.
Drinking water should be on an empty stomach, preferably in the morning. The water dose is measured in 250 ml beakers. Generally, you can drink 250 ml - 1lt of water per day.
A cycle of psychotherapy lasts 3 - 4 weeks. It usually requires at least two rounds of psychotherapy to see its health benefits.
